In my hospital bag (what to bring to the birthplace)

Baby's imminent arrival is an exciting and emotional time. To help everything go smoothly on the big day, I absolutely had to take the time to prepare my hospital bag well in advance. I thought about it even before I made Bea's room!

A perfectionist like you know me, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to bring. I tried to stay as minimalist as possible, while still having everything I needed to feel good. Well, okay, I added a few extras too ;) Here's my complete list to guide you.

Bag and pouches and storage:

In my toiletry bag:

5. Moisturizing cream (code ITS_KIMBERLEY_ for 10% discount)

6. Small travel bottles

7. Travel size face spray

8. Travel-size dry shampoo

9. Facial cleansing wipes for sensitive skin

10. Lip balm

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Deodorant

Hair brush

Elastic

Dental silk

Shampoo, conditioner and soap

Snacks and hydration:

After childbirth:

15. Inverted perineal cleansing bottle

16. Nipple and lip cream

17. Adult diapers

18. Nursing cushion

Please note that you don't need to bring diapers AND disposable bobbins and maxi pads, just one option or the other.

Clothing (day and night)

19. Nursing tops (2)

20. Comfortable top

21. Comfortable jogging

22. Slippers

Comfortable clothes for the journey home

Warm socks

Flip-flops (for the shower)

My little extras:

Equipment:

27. Car seat (must be installed in the car)

28. Little Coulou

Now that childbirth is behind me, here's everything I brought but didn't use:

Reusable nursing pads

Disposable postpartum underwear: I preferred adult diapers, it was simpler. :)

Maxi pads with ice effect: I preferred the hospital ice. These pads will be more useful at home.

Perineal healing foam: Just water and the compresses offered by the hospital are perfect for healing. I will use the foam postpartum at home.

Perineal spray: For going home, but not for hospital.

Pyjamas (2): I preferred to use hospital gowns! hihi!

Sleep mask: Not necessary for me!

Laptop: I've been resting, so no need for a computer, just my Sam and my kibble Beatrice.

iPad: Same as laptop, no need!

Carefully preparing your hospital bag eliminates one source of stress and gives you every chance of making your stay as comfortable as possible. Don't forget to modify the list according to your personal needs, and discuss it with your healthcare professional for personalized recommendations.

It's important to note that every birth is unique. My bag has been prepared in anticipation of a two-night hospital stay, but the duration can vary, with some people staying only 24 hours and others more than 36 hours. It's up to you to decide what you'd like to have on hand according to your preferences.

Hope this little list helps! :) xx
